My friend Paul Martin has been rescuing injured, native animals since he was a teenager.  He is on call to rescue wildife in Crescent Head and the surrounding Mid North Coast area.  I had the opportunity to meet a gannet which Paul rescued, and witness its transformation from a weak and vulnerable animal, to a rehabilitated sea bird, ready to take on the world again.  I captured these photographs at my favourite local beach, Racecourse Beach, where Paul read the winds and picked the right time to release this little guy. Paul wrote the article below about the animal rescue.  Today I am happy to see the article land on the front cover of both the Port Macquarie Independent and the Mid Coast Courier.  It’s always great to see a good news story being shared.   Gannet returns to the wild Gannets are often seen diving spectacularly for bait fish off local beaches. This young one, however, was found by Jess Tout on the Crescent Head Back Beach on 14/4/15. It tried to go into the water but was not able to navigate the rough surf, and sat back down on the beach. Jess, who lives locally and is keen […] Read More

As a teenager, as soon I was had grown enough to fit into my mum’s bohemian clothing treasures from the ’70s, I wore them until they fell to pieces.   I’ve always loved boho style so I’m loving the rebirth and reworking of bohemian styles, into the garments that on trend right now. Somedays Lovin asked me to shoot the festival fashion at Port Macquarie’s FOTSun (Festival of the Sun).  True to the festival’s name, the lingering grey clouds opened up, literally as I arrived at the festival gate, and the preceding week of rain transformed into two perfect days of sunshine, ideal for dancing barefoot in the sand to the live music. These gorgeous girls from Port Macquarie, Crescent Head, Newcastle and Sydney stood out amongst the crowd in their boho outfits.  Thanks for playing girls!!     Read More

Festival of The Sun kicked off on a gorgeous Port Macquarie afternoon late last year.  I was at FOTsun photographing street style fashion for fashion label, Somedays Lovin’s summer festival tour.  When the sun disappeared behind the horizon, I finished photographing street style and jumped into the media pit to grab some shots of the bands, just for fun. It has been a while since I shot live music, and I had a heap of fun.  Here are some shots of my favourite bands at FOTsun 2015, Violent Soho and Jackie Onassis. Read More

I have made a treechange, packing up life in Inner City Sydney, to move up the coast 400km to the beautiful little coastal town of Crescent Head.  Up here, life rolls by at a different pace.  I have time to kick back with a beverage at dusk and watch silhouettes of kangeroos bounce across the pink horizon.  The mornings greet me with layers of dawn bird songs over the gentle purr of the ocean: a welcome change from the roaring engines and rattling windows that once awoke me as jets landed at Sydney Airport. I don’t mind missing out on conveniences like cafes, restaurants and late night grocers.  Like when travelling, you learn to adapt to a new environment quickly, just because you have to.  You embrace it, and truly appreciate it when you stumble upon something you love. Now up here on the Mid North Coast, I will be basing my photography studio in Port Macquarie, as well as focusing more on international photo work, and continuing shooting in Sydney. I’m really looking forward to connecting with people here in the Port Macquarie and Crescent Head areas.  In a region bursting with entrepreneurs, and where local business dominates, […] Read More
