TedX Sydney
It was an honour to be part of the team of photography who captured images of the TedX Sydney event at Sydney Convention Centre in 2018. Posting live from backstage, we had a huge team of shooter, runners and computer gurus ensuring that everything ran smoothly.
I have been a fan of TED Talk for many years, finding great inspiration and information from amazing speakers around the world. Being there amongst the speakers and organisers was an energising experience.
TEDxSydney is the leading platform for the propagation of Australian ideas, creativity and innovation to the rest of the world.
TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less) and covers almost all topics from science to business to global issues.
Here are some of my event photographs from TedX Sydney.
Magda Szubanski
Magda silenced the TedX audience with her heart wrenching stories about her family’s past, her childhood and her public “coming out”. She is an incredible speaker and entertainer. It was a privilege to witness this fragile side to Magda as I grew up seeing her on TV as a confident and funny entertainer.
Kaiit
Melbourne songstress Kaiit was another highlight for me at TedX Sydney. Born in Papua New Guinea, Kaiit drew in the crowd with her honey voice and neo-soul tunes.

Didirri
Another of my highlights from TedX Sydney was Didirri. I’ve been a fan of Didirri since I first heard his gripping track, Formaldehyde. His music is know to be both heartbreaking and healing – something challenging to deal with while I was focussed on shooting in a massive amphitheatre. Despite my focus on the job, Didirri’s music still drew me right in to the heart space.
