I was asked to do photography of a Kempsey Riversideside Markets special event, the Kempsey Twilight Markets. I’ve always loved markets so covering the event photography for this special Christmas market was a lot of fun. Riversider Park was packed with stalls, showcasing many locally made arts, crafts and food. There was an abundance of local produce with fresh fruit and veggies and gorgeous flowers. The entertainment was mainly singer songwriters from the local area and I enjoyed discovering some of our local artists from around the Mid North Coast. In December we saw some of the worst bush fires ever in Crescent Head. Over 3 weeks I photographed the fires that reached the edge of our property as helicopters, fire trucks and even planes fought to keep the houses and people in our community safe. I’ve lived here for 3 years, after living and working as a photographer in Sydney, Melbourne and overseas. I knew the day would eventually come when bushfires would be here. The clock had been ticking. The firefighters and RFS did an amazing job and we are extremely grateful for their hard work and skill.
